Culinary Delights: The Heart of The Old Millhouse Inn
When it comes to dining, The Old Millhouse Inn excels in delivering a menu that is both rich in tradition and full of innovative twists. Specializing in classic British pub fare with a modern touch, the dishes are crafted using locally sourced ingredients, ensuring each bite is fresh and full of flavor.
Start your meal with a warm soup of the day, served with freshly baked bread—a comforting option that highlights the inn’s dedication to quality, home-cooked meals. For mains, the slow-roasted lamb shank is a standout, cooked to perfection and served with rich, savory gravy and a side of seasonal vegetables. This dish is a true embodiment of the inn's philosophy: simple ingredients, expertly prepared.
The fish and chips, a British staple, is another favorite. The battered fish is light and crispy, while the accompanying hand-cut fries are golden and perfectly seasoned. The meal is served with a tangy tartar sauce and peas, creating a harmonious balance of flavors that never fails to satisfy.

Had a Sunday roast, beef brisket was melt in the mouth amazing, also ate again and had the mill house burger...... OMG best burger I have ever eaten! AMAZING food, lovely staff, friendly atmosphere, would definitely recommend eating and staying here xless
My wife and I popped into The Old Millhouse Inn to grab a cool, refreshing drink after walking a section of the Coast Path on a particularly hot afternoon. The lady behind the bar was very helpful and, in addition to pouring a delicious pint of Proper Job and a half of pale ale, she also kindly provided water for our onward journey. We enjoyed our drinks in the beer garden. Would certainly come back again if in Polperro. Many thanks.less
Just come back from a two night stay here, on arrival we had a friendly welcome. However when entering the room it was clear that photos online were not a true reflection on what the room was really like ! The room was very dusty and dirty and in a desperate need of refurbishment (not great during this pandemic). The window was broken and had not been replaced. Also none of the lights worked we had to ask for some new bulbs. The shower was extremely mouldy and therefore we did not use it, we felt on edge using the bathroom ! On the 2nd day a leak started coming through the ceiling, we reported this to the staff they stated they did not have any other rooms available for us to move. We were ready to go home at this point however they found us a room in their sister hotel Noughts and Crosses ( we were very skeptical about going here). On arrival at this hotel it was 100 times better and very clean ! Breakfast was good and there was plenty to choose from but it did take a while for it to arrive. I think they may have been let down by some staff. We paid on arrival but were asked numerous times on our stay if we had paid which we found a bit bizarre. I would not recommend staying here unless a vast improvement is made.less
Got moved here after double booking at the owners other pub (noughts and crosses) Didn’t feel safe with the COVID situation One staff complaining about being alone Got shown our room (room 2) well what can I say .. just disgusting, dirty unkempt, we went out for a wander as no staff available to talk to, came back and complained to a barmaid .. who told me it was the same price , we complained and got told her boss would take £20 off, the boss was around but didn’t even have the decency to come and apologise Dog poo all over the garden Landlord with dog then arrived and took him and the dog into the kitchen ... DO NOT BOOK See pictures our bathroom and a room with an incredible very ... not !! less
Stayed for one night in bedroom 4. As previous comments, the bedroom is not the greatest but the bed was quite comfy. The breakfast was included (full English breakfast, cereals, juice, tea and coffee). Was the best point of our staying. The staff was really nice and friendly but they need to improve the B&B side. The place is totally overpriced for what they offer. We didn’t take anything in the pub but it’s really cosy with nice garden and live music.less
